God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are not like three stone statues sitting far away in heaven.
The Father loves His Son. He gives Him every good gift He has, and He delights in Him and praises Him (Matthew 3:17). The Son loves His Father (John 14:31). He freely and joyfully gives everything He has to the Father — even His own life (Hebrews 12:2). He delights to do the Father’s will (Psalm 40:8) because He delights in the Father Himself.
The Holy Spirit also knows, loves, and shares life with the Father and the Son, just as they share life with one another (John 16:12-15). They are like family, and they joyfully share life together.
C.S. Lewis once said that when we are alone in our rooms and praying, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are all truly with us.
God the Father speaks to us through the words of Scripture, and we speak personally to Him in prayer. Jesus Christ, the Son of God — our Saviour and Brother — is with us, holding us close and praying for us and with us (Romans 8:34). And the Holy Spirit lives within us, strengthening us, renewing us, and helping us to pray (Romans 8:26).
So, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are at home with us (John 14:15-23) — as we are with them.
