Sin Happens

Let’s be honest – sin is real. But many people, including Christians, often deny or ignore it. The idea that we do wrong, that God holds us responsible, and that there are eternal consequences, isn’t very popular today. Some have watered it down or rejected it completely.

Still, the Bible says sin affects everyone (Romans 3:23; Isaiah 53:6). Whether we admit it or not, it’s there—and we all need to face that reality. As someone once said, deep down, we all know something isn’t right in the world—or in ourselves.

King David experienced this. In Psalm 32, he said that when he tried to hide his sin, he felt like he was wasting away inside and growing spiritually lifeless. Have you ever felt distant from God? Dry? Empty?

When whole societies ignore sin, the damage spreads even further (Romans 1:18–32; Psalm 75:7).

But here’s the good news: when David finally confessed his sin to God, he found complete forgiveness. Not one of his sins was held against him (Psalm 32:1–2, 5). Imagine that!

That same forgiveness is offered to all of us through Jesus. His death on the cross covered the cost of our failures (Romans 4:21). If we’re willing to admit our need and turn to God, that same mercy and healing can be ours too.
